Our Story
Lovers Bakery is about creating a space where Coffee meets Conversation, Croissants meet Community, and Every Bite feels like Home. Lovers Bakery started the way the best things do — with two people who couldn't stop talking about food.
We're Allie and Jake. We met in culinary school more than eleven years ago, bonding over late nights in the kitchen and a shared obsession with doing things the right way. Allie gravitated toward pastry — the precision, the science, the magic of turning butter and flour into something extraordinary. Jake trained as a chef, but when we decided to build something of our own, he hung up his chef's coat and picked up a rolling pin.
After years of working in kitchens across Virginia Beach and New England, we landed in Dartmouth with a goal: open our own place before turning 30, and run it the way we believe a bakery should be run. No frozen dough. No pre-made fillings. No cutting corners. Just real ingredients, real technique, and the kind of care that takes time — because the best things always do.
The name came naturally. We've been partners in life and in the kitchen for over a decade, and everything we make here is shaped by that. When you bite into one of our croissants, you're tasting hundreds of hand-folded layers and years of practice. When we box up a birthday cake, we know it's going to be part of someone's celebration. That matters to us.
We opened Lovers Bakery to be part of this community — to be the place you stop on your way to work, the bakery you call when you need a last-minute cake, the shop where a cookie can turn a bad day around. Thanks for being here.
